New Work

Beauty, whether captured at the precise moment of experience, lovingly remembered, or painfully longed for, has been the focus of my work. I prefer to work with watercolor, pastel, pencil/charcoal and ink. Used individually and oftentimes in mixed format, each commission or study provides an opportunity to progress beyond photo-realism regarding my subject’s personality, depth and intent. artist photograph

..distant traces…”  explored the unexpected as it exists within the ordinary.
..an instance of passage…”
attempts to illuminate that which comes after.

There are special vignettes in all of our daily scenarios. Mostly, we pass them by. Maybe we're sensitive to a subconscious feeling that something interesting or special
almost made an impact on us but it just was not close enough to connect. If we accept the fact that everything exists for a purpose, then we need to take the time to observe and appreciate that purpose. The truth is we are moving ever closer to isolating ourselves from even our closest neighbors with our single-minded determination to achieve personal successes.

We are groomed (and are grooming our children) to ignore distractions on the path to grasping our ever proverbial brass ring. Western Civilization’s personal demon - this drive to succeed at all costs - discounts as inconsequential the very elements of our society that provide us with our real worth. Living in ignorance of the simple pleasures, many of which are just beyond our horizon, sterilizes our inner selves and segregates us from the essence that gives society its worth.

Everywhere, within every person and every non-descript address we pass, there is a spark of what makes us worthwhile. Traces of our humanity, however distant to our physical being should be our new focus.

This work seems to have taken a lifetime to birth from chaotic imagination to the realm of reality, and it has been my focus for the past year. If it is to be successful, it will afford you, the viewer, an opportunity to experience what might have been and what may be, our collective present, past & potential future.

"Run away from childish work, guessing games and mirages. Return to your heart. Dance and laugh in a sacred place, where you will be cared for secretly."
